The Southeast Super Truck Series and company made the second return visit to Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC on Saturday June 22. This was the fourth race of the season, and after having a couple weeks off the teams were ready to get back to action. The first practice round it was Cameron Williams who laid down the fastest lap time of 15.923, he was followed by Taylor Hosford (who was making her return to the Super Trucks), Josh Goble, Kyle Barnes, and Tim Lollis. The final practice round it was Taylor who topped the charts in her Roberts Racing #13 Silverado. Cameron Williams, Josh Goble, Tim Lollis and Kyle Barnes rounded out the top five. However it was Easley’s, South Carolina’s Tim Lollis who claimed the Renegade Race Fuel Pole Award in his #50 Busted Knuckle Tire & Auto Silverado. Lollis rolled a four on the invert dice, which now set Goble to start the 50 lap feature in the captain’s chair.
When it came time for the drivers to line up on the track for their feature race, they completed their pace laps, the Double Aught Injury Lawyers pace car ducked down on pit road and out of harms way. The flagman Dylan Greene waved the green flag and the field took off into turn one, however Cameron Williams (who had been experiencing transmission issues all afternoon) seemed to have missed a shift on the takeoff, causing Tim Lollis to slam into the rear of the #15 T&D Trucking Ford F150, Lollis was then punted from behind by Kyle Barnes and sent the #50 down the track and in front of Toby Hollifield’s #5 JR Hollifield & Sons Painting Silverado. Hollifield made hard contact with Lollis and caused his truck to get airborne, resulting in both trucks slamming hard into the inside pit wall. After a extensive red flag to clean up all of the debris, both drivers were helped from their trucks, Hollifield was transported to a local hospital for further evaluations and was later released with two broken bones in his foot.
Goble led the field back to the green flag for the start of the 50 lap feature. Goble led lap one, however Hosford and Williams were fighting already for the second position. Five laps into the race, and Hosford was not wasting anymore time as she took the lead away from Goble. Bennie Davis had flames shooting out from what appeared to be his brakes, he came down to the pit area where his night would end prematurely. With ten laps now in the books, Hosford had checked out over the rest of the field, but the battle for second was one to watch. Josh Goble had a mirror full of Cameron Williams and Kyle Barnes. Taylor Hosford would go on to capture her first Southeast Super Truck Series win, and setting the bar by being the first female to be victorious as well. “This one was definitely hard fought, we stayed patient for it, this was a lot better than second! I have to thank this guy right here, my dad, I wouldn’t even do this if it wasn’t for my dad. My moms not here tonight, hopefully she is watching on tv. All of my Roberts Racing , amazing people, they give the best race cars, and lastly Annett Bus Lines they have stuck with me a long time.” Stated Taylor Hosford in Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet/ Double Aught Injury Lawyers Victory Lane.
The series will take a couple more weeks off before returning to action, the schedule has had another mix up, but should be posted ASAP for our next date. So stay tuned to our Social Media pages as well as our website www.southeastsupertrucks.com.
