The SEST Limited Late Models were more than eager to return to the track, after their last race was rained out. They made the trek down to Anderson Motor Speedway on August 7th. It was a long and hot and hot day down in the Upstate of South Carolina. The drivers all made their way on to the track to get their race kicked off. TJ Lollis inherited the pole award after the invert, John Gallman would start on the outside. The green flag waved high, and everyone took off for the 75 lap feature. Lollis lead the first lap, however Gallman was just waiting for the bottom line to come open so he could run his race. Gallman ducked in the tire tracks of the #50 of Lollis and made his move, he drove to the inside and up to the door. The drivers were door to door, Gallman had the better car as he was able to take over the lead. Ashton Higgins seen the bottom window was still open so he followed suit.
Points leader DJ Canipe had finally reeled down the #50 of Lollis as he waited for his opportunity to battle for third. Gallman and Higgins pulled away from the field, but not for long as Canipe slowly began to chase the duo down. He finally caught the rear bumper of the #9 of Higgins and drove under him. With just under 20 laps to go, the second place driver DJ Canipe found himself in trouble. He somehow found himself gathered up in a slower car of Chris Smith as the pair were mangled up together on the front stretch and brought out the caution. Gallman paced the field back to the green flag with Ryan Howard restarting on his outside. With just nine laps remaining the caution flew again as Higgins came to a stop entering in turn one.
Gallman and Howard led the field back to the green flag, however it was the yellow #7 of Howard who clawed his way on top. The caution flew again as the #18 of Jimmy Motes cut a right front tire down. Howard took off when the green was waving, he quickly pulled the #81 of Gallman, it was now a battle for second as Nesbitt-Campbell drove to the inside of Gallman. Taylor would go on to capture the victory and become the first female to do so in series history.
The series will head to a new track on August 28th, just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina
(Wake County Speedway).
