WEATHER POSTPONES LONESOME PINE RACE
Unfortunately the weather won this past weekend up in Coeburn, we are hoping to have an announcement regarding a makeup dates within the upcoming week.
We wanted to thank all of the teams, staff and fans for trying to stick it out with us. This is only the second time since we have been running that we have had to cancel during an event, and it is not something we look forward to doing. We had thought at first that we had a window to get more of the races in but it closed quickly. We apologize for any disappointment this may have caused. Again we thank everyone for your understanding and cooperation.

It is with heavy and saddened heart that we announce that Marty Ward of Marietta, South Carolina, multi Championship driver, has passed surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday, August 6th.
Marty brought much fun and laughter to everyone he was around.
His stories brought back great memories for us all. Marty never knew a stranger and made you feel like you had been friends since childhood. He was a man of integrity and honor. And in true Marty fashion, he left us with that huge smile and a victory lane flag in in hand, winning the very first race for the Southern Classic Stock Car division. Marty will be greatly missed by his racing family and friends.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4 :8
As we learn the arrangements from Marty's family, we will be posting those for anyone that would like to send their condolences to Marty's family. We would also like to ask for time and respect for Marty's family during this difficult time.
We Love You and Will Miss You Marty! Fly High and God Speed Friend!

This WEEKEND's RACE AT KINGSPORT SPEEDWAY POSTPONED
7/7: For Immediate Release - - With the ongoing Hoosier Tire shortage’s across the nation, we are limited to tire availability for this weekend’s race at Kingsport Speedway. Also with the increasing thunderstorm forecast for Saturday, we have made the decision to postpone this Saturday night’s race at Kingsport Speedway. “We feel that making this decision is in the best interest of our racers, staff, and fans. Canceling or postponing races are never easy decisions to make. We always try to take into consideration our racers, especially the ones that travel far distances and spend a lot of money to do so. We feel that we wouldn’t have adequate tires to spread evenly to all of our teams. Hopefully within a few more weeks, we will have a better tire inventory. We also do not want our fans sitting in the rain off and on throughout the day/evening. We wanted to make this decision early in the week and not wait until last minute to help our racers and staff with not having to book hotels.” said SEST Series Owner and founder Jeff Myers. We will announce the makeup date as soon as we can confirm a new date.
Clark Houston Picks Up Win at Hickory Motor Speedway
Southeast Super Trucks
Hickory Motor Speedway

Press Release By: Gerald E Harris
Photos By: Keith Anderson
After a pretty exciting first two races of the season, the Southeast Super Trucks headed back to Hickory Motor Speedway, “The Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars”. Fourteen drivers showed up, and was the biggest truck count of the season, however Madison, Florida’s Taylor Hosford lost a engine in the Friday Evening Practice. Ed Surrett made the return to the series for the first time this season, and driver change on board the previous winning #3 truck (won at the season opener at Anderson Motor Speedway with truck owner Greg Nix) Marty Ward. Two time HMS Super Truck Champion Sheflon Clay also returned to the series and at a place he was very familiar with. The teams all unloaded and prepared for a beautiful sunny afternoon in Catawba County, NC.
The first practice round it was up Dusty Garus who set the fastest time of 15.613, he was followed by Sheflon Clay, Tanner Carter, Clark Houston, and Marty Ward. The final practice was up next for the super stars, and once again it was Garus who topped the charts, however the top five shuffled up a bit; Clark Houston, Sheflon Clay, Marty Ward, and Ed Surrett. In Qualifying it was Hickory’s own Clark Houston who claimed the Renegade Race Fuels Pole Award with a blistering time of 15.203. Houston rolled five on the invert dice, which now set Veteran driver Tim Lollis on the top spot with DJ Canipe on the outside. Later that evening as it was time for the main event, the drivers all lined up on the front stretch. As the Rick Hendrick’s City Chevrolet pace truck pulled away, and led the field for a few warm up laps before turning everyone loose.
Lollis and Canipe sailed off into turn one side by side, coming out of two Lollis bobbled a tad bit and Canipe was able to power past and pull out front. Canipe led the first lap of the race, the battle for third was heating up fast as Tanner Carter dove to the inside of Sheflon Clay, Clark Houston and Joshua Horniman were right there in the tire tracks. Carter got sideways a little bit, and this opened the door for Houston as he powered to the outside of the #00 machine. Clay worked his way passed the #50 of Lollis and he was bringing Houston with him. With ten laps on the board, Canipe was now in trouble as Clay and Houston caught up with him, it was now a three way battle for the lead. The first caution flew over the field as the #22 of Garus spun on the front stretch, he was able to get it fired back up and headed back in the right direction.
Canipe led the field back to the KRC Power Steering Restart Zone in turn four, Clay was able to take advantage of the restart as he worked his way to the front of the field. The battle for this was heating up once again, as Houston and Carter were side by side. Houston powered past the #00 machine, Horniman was watching what happened in front of him and took advantage of the situation, as he drove to the inside of Carter. The pair raced side by side neither giving an inch, Carter bobbled coming out of the fourth turn, making slight contact with Horniman. Carter then made hard contact with the outside wall bringing Horniman with him, both drivers suffered significant damage to their trucks. Tim Dale was also involved trying to avoid the carnage. The red flag was waved for the extensive clean up on the front stretch.
As the field was getting ready to get back going, Canipe pulled his #29 On the Go Quick Lube truck down on to pit road for unscheduled pit stop, something was going on with the past two time limited late model champion. Clay led the field to the KRC Power Steering Restart Zone, with Houston on his outside. Clay was able to hit his marks and pull out front of the #6 truck. Caution flew again as debris from trucks flew off and was laying in the racing groove. Clay once again led the field back to the green flag, however it didn’t stay green long, as the field went into turn one, trouble abrupted from the #6 of Houston, as he went way high and was way off the pace. Also the #8 of Surrett was way off the pace and came to a stop. Houston was able to limp his truck back around the track to the aide of his crew where he was experiencing throttle linkage issues.
Clay led the field back through the KRC Power Steering Restart Zone once more, with Lollis restating on his outside. Ward who was quiet the first part of the race now found himself in the top three, along with Garus. Houston who restarted at the tail end of the lead lap was driving on a mission, as he was trying to get back up front with a little over half way. The caution flew again with 18 laps remaining, as Surrett came to a stop on the front stretch. Once again Clay led the field back to the green flag, Houston quickly went to work and disposed of Garus and Ward, moving back up to third. After a few lap battle with Lollis Houston was finally able to dive around the #50 truck on the outside. He went on to capture the victory.
“Yeah man for sure when the throttle linkage broke it was frustrating to say the least but I knew if the cautions flew right we would be able to get back to the front and have another shot at the 15 truck and unfortunately that never happened but I’m still proud of the speed we had coming from the back and it also made for a fun last 25 laps Winning at hickory is somthing I’ve had on my bucket list for quite a while and while we hated to win it that way a wins a win and we will take it for sure but I’m still looking to get back to victory lane there this year! I’m not sure when we will run again with the south East super truck series as we’ve changed our plans a little bit this year as far as what we are running and where we are going but there is still a chance I will be back with the series before the end of 22’ I can’t thank alps mtn. Affordable hearing Dwight Huffman racing and duck graphics enough for always making sure I get to the racetrack!” stated Houston who picked up his first win of the 2022 season.

Bryce Applegate Finds Himself In Victory Lane at Hickory Motor Speedway
SEST Limited Late Models
Hickory Motor Speedway

Press Release By: Gerald E Harris

The first two races have been very exciting for the fans none the less, and no repeat winners so far this season. The series made the return to the famed Hickory Motor Speedway, otherwise known as “The Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars”. Past champion in the HMS weekly Pro 4 class Chase Pollard who competes with the series regularly this year had the upper hand coming into the night. Winner of the first race of the year Joey Braun was absent. And previous winner at Kingsport Speedway, Lance Gatlin decided to make the return to HMS. NASCAR’s Xfinity Series driver Josh Williams made the drive from Charlotte Motor Speedway after the Xfinity race to compete in the Limited’s. Kristen Wallace who was set to pilot her brothers car for the day. So it was shaping up to be one for the record.
The first practice session was up for the drivers and teams, it was Jefferson, North Carolina’s Chris Phipps who topped the first round charts with a time of 15.931. He was followed by Pollard, Gatlin, Bryce Applegate, and Jacob Bradley. Final practice was up next, and this time it was long time competitor John Gallman who laid down the fastest lap time, 15.843. Lance Gatlin, Bryce Applegate, Chase Pollard, and Heath Silver rounded out the top five. The teams had one more chance to make adjustments, and prepare for Qualifying. Bryce Applegate was able to claim the Renegade Race Fuels Pole Award with a time of 15.531, just five thousands behind was Pollard. Applegate rolled a three on the invert dice, which now set Bub Haney on the top spot, and Pollard starting on his outside.
When the time rolled around the limited drivers to strap in their machines, they were all prepared to get their 50 lap feature under way and fight for the $1,500 payday as well as the trophy. The Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet pace truck pulled down on pit road, and the field worked their way out turn four. The green flag waved, and they all took off. It did not take long, as Applegate quickly went to work on trying to get around the #17 of Pollard. Haney led the first lap as well as the first three, until Applegate was able to power past the #28 in turn three. Pollard had his hands full as Gallman was working hard to make a opening. As Gallman worked his way past the #17 machine of Pollard, he opened the door for the #50 of TJ Lollis. With 15 laps in the books, Applegate had opened up a four second lead over Haney. Gallman was now in contention with second as he tried to take a look under the #28 of Haney.
The caution flew on lap twenty as the #6 of Williams had cut a right rear tire down, Williams pulled down on to pit road and parked it for the night. The Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet pace truck pulled back down on to pitroad and Applegate worked his way inside the KRC Power Steering Restart Zone. Haney was slow on the restart, and this opened the door for Lollis and Phipps, as they drove past the #28 Ford. Gatlin and Pollard were putting on a show for the fans as they raced side by side for sixth. The second caution flew just a few laps later as Gallman and Heath Silver were fighting hard for position and got together coming out turn four, Silver went spinning around. Several cars were involved trying to dodge the spinning #55 machine, those were Wallace (#12W), Cameron Williams (#15), Eugene Norton (#27). The red flag was put out so they could clean up all of the debris and fluids left by all of the cars.
Applegate led the drivers back to the KRC Power Steering Restart Zone, with Lollis on his outside. They worked their way inside the final 15 laps of the race, Lollis now had his hands full as Phipps was trying to work past the #50 and take over second. With the pass it opened the door for Gatlin, now with just a few laps left in the feature, Gatlin was able to drive to third and brought Pollard with him, moving Lollis back to fifth. Bryce Applegate went onto to capture his first victory of the series and had this to say down in Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet Victory Lane, “Yeah I knew it wasn’t going to come easy like that after the red flag, they was coaching me around, trying to get me a great restart. Telling me what to do, everybody was really good, car was amazing. I can’t thank this crew enough, my mom and dad, Jesus Christ, everybody Josh, John, Zack, everybody that showed up. This car was amazing, and I was just privileged to drive it”.

Austin Thompson Scores Emotional Win at Hickory Motor Speedway
Southeast Legends Tour
Hickory Motor Speedway
May 28, 2022
Press Release By: Gerald E Harris

The Southeast Legends Tour has always had some of the best Legends drivers in the country competing week in and out. And the first two races of the season have been far from boring to the fans. Reigning Champion Austin Thompson picked up the first win, and Cameron Bolin picked up the second victory of the season. Both drivers came into Hickory Motor Speedway with determination and full steam as the pair both experienced a loss within their families. The teams all unloaded and prepared for day’s festivities. As the first practice round rolled around the drivers all climbed aboard their INEX Legends machines and pulled onto the track.
Austin clawed his way to the top of the charts with a time of 16.724, he was followed by Landon Lewis, Cameron Bolin, Alex McCollum, and Lucas Vera. The second and final round of practice it was once again Austin Thompson who was on top of the charts, with Alex McCollum in second; Cameron Bolin, Landon Lewis, and Jacob Staten rounded out the top five. Qualifying was up next for the drivers, and it was Bolin who captured the coveted pole award, making it his second of the year. Bolin rolled a five on the invert dice which now set Staten and Lewis on the front row. Later that evening the drivers strapped back in their cars to get their feature race underway, and pulled out on to the track in behind the Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet pace truck for their warm up laps.
The pace truck dove onto pit road to get the night started for 24 of the best Legends drivers in the country. Staten and Lewis sailed off into turn one, with the rest of the field slicing and dicing. As the field rolled down the back straight away and into turn three five cars were collected in a multi-car pile up. Those cars involved were #87 Dominic Chisholm, #65 Damon Burdette, #5M London McKenzie, #20 Josh Dickens, and the #25 of Justice Calabro. After a extensive red flag for cleaning up the wreck the field began to roll around the famous 3/10ths mile oval to get the race back underway for a complete redo. The Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet pace truck sped back onto pit road, and the green waved once more.
Staten and Lewis raced off into turn one and two and down the back straight away side by side, battling for the lead. Lewis was able to pull out front and lead lap one, Austin Thompson quickly began his drive to the front as he pulled to the outside of Staten. Thompson jumped down to the bottom line after completing the pass on the #24 of Staten, he then set his sights on the leader of Lewis. After a lap of hard racing Austin was able to take over the lead on lap three. Lewis now felt himself under attack once again as the #51 of McCollum drove to the inside of the #99L machine. Bolin was also making his drive towards the front of the field as he quickly disposed of Lewis. The second caution flew on lap eleven as the two machines of Mitchel Thompson (#55) and Logan Drumheller (#5) got together in turn two.
Austin Thompson and Alex McCollum led the field back to the KRC Power Steering Restart Zone in turn four, flagman Timmy Hutson waved the green flag high in the air, and we were back under way. The top six raced side by side in each row back to complete lap twelve, for four laps A. Thompson and McCollum never gave a inch as they raced door to door before Austin was able to pull back in front of the field. Bolin and Lewis were fighting for the third position on the track, Bolin was able to move past the #99L and opened the door for the #01 of Brody Gunter. Gunter drove it in hard in the middle of turn three and four, and made slight contact with the left rear of Lewis, this sent Lewis for a spin cycle in front of the rest of the field. Thompson led the field back to the green flag, and quickly wasted no time as he pulled out front of the rest of the field. McCollum appeared to spin his tires and bobbled as Bolin slipped by and opened the door for Staten, Staten and McCollum were door to door racing hard for third.
Gunter and Staten were fighting for the fourth position now, with just over ten laps remaining for the feature. Meanwhile back up front Austin was now beginning to see a mirror full of the #67 of Bolin. Austin Thompson went on to capture the victory and had this to say in Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet Victory Lane, “To have her pass on Thursday, the guys at the shop got my car ready, they gave me the option and me and my dad talked, and this is where she would want me to be. Her service is tomorrow, but um I knew every lap she was with me and she gave me the strength to finish out tonight. There aint no quit in me, we come here as a family, we leave as a family, everybody down here is family, blood or not blood, everybody eats, drinks and sleeps this car. Everybody down in the pits is my family, anything I need from these guys, they are always here, its not just a team to me its Family! I have the upmost respect for Cameron (Bolin), if it’s not me winning it’s him, I can’t thank him enough he got to close to me, he could have done me dirty but that’s not the way he is”.

Hunter Jordan Breaks Through With Win at Hickory Motor Speedway
Southeast Bandolero Tour
Hickory Motor Speedway
May 28, 20222
Press Release By: Gerald E Harris
Photos By: Keith Anderson
The Southeast Bandolero Tour rolled into the “Most Famous Short Track” Hickory Motor Speedway with one of the largest fields of the season. The first three races of the 2022 season have been very exciting to say the least, no repeat winners, the last race seen a last lap pass for the lead and win, there was no telling what HMS would provide for the fans. As all of the young drivers prepped for the day, they climbed on board of their Bandolero cars for the first round of practice, and it was newcomer to the series Gracie Crocker who showed the boys how it was done, as she laid down the fastest lap times. The final round of practice for the SEBT would also be their Qualifying round.
Once again Gracie was the quickest out of the group, as her time of 19.221 was hard to beat. After a short meet and greet autograph session, the drivers strapped into their machines to kick the racing off for the night. The Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet pace truck led the field around the track for a few warm up laps, Gracie Crocker and Hunter Jordan were on the front row. The pace truck dove onto pit road and the field took off, Jacob Maxwell quickly went to work on the front row, he brought the previous winner with him of Hunter Morgan. Jordan led the first lap of the race, and that was enough for Gracie as she pulled back up to the outside of the #81. The pair raced side by side, battling for the lead, the battle went on for the first three laps, before Gracie pulled a switch and cross over move. She dove to the inside of Jordan and led lap number four, however Jordan wasn’t going down with a fight, he charged back up on the outside line.
The drivers crossed the halfway mark, Gracie still out front leading, her sister was on the move in her #75 machine as she rocketed past the #3 of Maxwell, taking over fourth. The first caution flew over the field of drivers as Gracie Crocker and Hunter Joran got together on the back straight away leading into the third turn, Gracie went around with just a handful of laps remaining, tough break for the leader. She was able to get back under power and caught up with the tail end of the field. Jordan led the field single file back to the green flag inside the KRC Power Steering Restart Zone, with Morgan in his rear view mirror. Jordan definitely did not want to see that black #5 there. Jordan went on to capture his first win of the season, as Morgan and Mckenna Crocker battled it out until the end for second. “Well halfway through the race I came up on the back stretch into one of my team mates, I was on the inside of Gracie, I really don’t know what happened, she got stuck up behind him, I think I kind of came up on her. I’m so so sorry, I feel really bad for her” stated Jordan in Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet Victory Lane.

DJ Canipe Captures First Southeast Super Truck Victory
at Kingsport SPEEDWAY
May 14, 2022
Press Release By: Gerald E Harris
Photos By: Keith Anderson
The Southeast Super Trucks has produced some of the best races throughout the history of the all the series. Some of the biggest, and best drivers around. Heading into the next stop of the 2022 season it was going to be anyone’s race. Previous winner did not show up for Kingsport Speedway, so this opened the door for someone else. The first practice round was up and it was reigning champion Clark Houston who was on top. He laid down a time of 15.452, he was followed by Jamie Barbrey and Tim Lollis. The final practice round it was Jamie Barbrey who found himself on top, his time was 15.553 and Tim Lollis and Clark Houston rounded out the
top three.
Qualifying was up next, and the drivers of Clark Houston and DJ Canipe swapped rides for the remainder of the night. Canipe went on to claim the Renegade Race Fuels Pole Award in Houston’s truck. Canipe rolled a four on the invert dice, which now set Lollis to start the feature and Barbrey on the outside. The drivers paced around the track, warming up their engines and tires, and preparing for the green flag to wave. The Rick Hendricks City Chevrolet pace truck dove onto pit road, and flagman Timmy Hutson waited for the field to work they’re way onto the front straight away. The field sailed off into turn one, and as they worked their way out turn two, Lollis bobbled a little, which opened the door for Tanner Carter and Canipe. They was three wide down the back straight away, Carter backed off and pulled in line as they went into turn three.
Barbrey led the first lap of the race, as Lollis and Canipe were side by side battling for second. Canipe had a mirror full of drivers who all wanted that second position, Lollis, Carter, and Kaleb Bradley were all there. Barbrey led the first nine laps of the feature, before he had any competition. Canipe caught the rear bumper of the #21 truck, and pulled to the inside coming out of turn two, they drag raced down the back stretch. The battle lasted for two laps before Canipe was able to take over the top spot. Canipe led the field to the halfway mark of the race, and it appeared that Barbrey and Carter were cooling their tires off for the end of the race.
Canipe went on to capture his first ever Southeast Super Truck victory in pure dominating fashion. He had this to say in Rick Hendricks City Chevrolet Victory Lane: “I can’t thank everybody at DHR (Dwight Huffman Racing), Ashley, Casper, Geno, Alan, just everybody for all that they do. We usually race the truck that Clark ran, but we have been having a bunch of problems with it, so Clark let me drive his luckily. I can’t thank Ashley, Casper, my mom and dad for all they do for me, and for giving me a fast truck”.
The series will head to Hickory Motor Speedway on May 28th, for the next stop of the 2022 season.

Lance Gatlin Makes Debut With the SEST Limited Late Models at
Kingsport and Snags Win
May 14, 2022
Press Release By: Gerald E Harris
Photos By: Keith Anderson
The SEST Limited Late Models have some of the best of the best drivers in the Southeast. They compete at various tracks around North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. And you never know who will show up, and be competitive, the series invaded the “Concrete Jungle” Kingsport Speedway on Saturday, May 14th. Lance Gatlin who has multiple wins through out Tennessee joined the series, as well as Cameron Williams who was pulling double duty for the day. The First practice was about to take shape on the track, setting the fastest time in the first round was the young gun Bryce Applegate, with a time of 15.673. The Final practice round was Chrish Phipps who clawed his way to the top of the charts. Qualifying was up next and it was once again Applegate who was the quickest, as he claimed the Renegade Race Fuels Pole Award.
Applegate rolled a three on the invert dice, which now set Gatlin to start on the top spot with Bub Haney starting on the outside. When it came time for the Limited feature to get underway, the drivers were more than ready to battle it out for the 50 laps, $1,500 to win race. The Rick Hendricks City Chevrolet pace truck paced the field around the high banked concrete facility. As the field took the green flag, and raced off into turn one, the #28 of Bub Haney received a tap from the #55 of Heath Silver, all drivers were able to gather it up and keep going. However it bottled the field up, and Applegate and TJ Lollis were able to drive past the #28 of Haney. The battle for sixth was the one to watch on the track as young super star driver Jacob Bradley had his hands full, the #81 of John Gallman was right there in his tracks, and bringing the #37 (Phipps), #17 (Chase Pollard), and the #41 (Joey Braun).
With just three laps in the books, Haney bobbled coming out of turn two. This opened the door for Silver as he dove to the inside and took over fourth. The battle for ninth began to heat up as they completed eight laps, Bradley now found Pollard on his inside, and the pair raced door to door for several laps. Gatlin led the field to the half way mark of the race, Phipps and Bradley raced side by side for multiple laps, until Phipps was able to hang on to the seventh position. As the laps were winding down, Applegate was slowly reeling down the leader of Gatlin. Gatlin was able to carry on to the finish line, and capture his first SEST Limited Late Models victory. He led flag to flag, and had this to say in Rick Hendricks City Chevrolet Victory Lane “We had a quick car for tonight, this is kinda surreal. A lot of people don’t know, but I’m from a hour away from here, and I’ve raced passed here most of the time. And its very rarely that we make a stop at Kingsport Speedway. What I like is I’ve got family and friends here that rarely get to see me race, so this is a exciting win for me. First win at Kingsport Speedway and first win with the SEST Limited Late Model Series. I want to thank Quality Heat & Aire, Warren Stinson Dentistry, Outdoor Power Plus, Smokey Mount Hardwoods, Remax Real Estate of Morristown, KRC Power Steering, Upchurch Performance, Hess Chassis. I want to thank the Good Lord above, my dad for all of his support, he is my crew chief and all of the guys that helped”.

Cameron Bolin Returns To The SELT And Captures Win at Kingsport SPEEDWAY
May 14, 2022
Press Release By: Gerald E Harris
Photos By: Keith Anderson
With three weeks off from Tour competition, the drivers were eager to get back behind the wheel of their fast and furious Southeast Legends Tour cars. The second stop of the season was at none other than Kingsport Speedway. This facility was very good to past champion DJ Canipe, as he picked up multiple wins there in Legends, however now that he has moved up the rankings it was anyone’s game now. The sun was shining bright and had a beautiful blue sky, as the teams prepared for the first practice session that was coming up.
It was Cameron Bolin who topped the first practice round speed charts, with a time of 16.592. Austin
Thompson, Dominc Chisholm, Mitchell Thompson, and Brody Gunter rounded out the top five. Second practice was up next and it was once again led by Bolin, he was followed by Austin Thompson, Chris Kuhn, Alex Urbina, and Mitchell Thompson. Qualifying was the next step for the drivers, and to no surprise it was Cameron Bolin who claimed the Pole Award with his time of 16.890. Bolin rolled a three on the Invert Dice, which now put Urbina to start in the top spot for the feature race.
As the drivers warmed up their engines and tires, behind the Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet pace truck, they were all eager to get this feature underway. Flag man, Timmy Hutson waited for the field to come out of turn four and he waved the green flag high in the air. Urbina set sail as they went into turn one, however he left the bottom open and Bolin took advantage of this and shot to the inside. They were three wide as they came out of turn two, Bolin took over the lead. However reigning champion Austin Thompson was not giving up so easy, he remained on the outside of the #67 of Bolin. The pair raced side by side for one lap, before Austin pulled in behind of Bolin. Brody Gunter also took advantage of the #860 slipping back of Urbina, as Gunter was able to take over the third position.
Cameron Bolin was able to hold off Austin for the remaining portion of the feature as they went green to checkered with no cautions. “He’s (Austin Thompson) one of the best in the business, and to be able to do it with him, its fun. I enjoy every time we get to race together. That is what I enjoy about this deal the most is you get the best of the best. That kept me honest, knowing I had a good clean person behind me, that eased my nerves a little bit. We left my car way to tight, I felt like if I could have got in the throttle just a little bit better, we would have been in really good shape. We race some and we learn, that’s one thing about the 860 Motorsports crew, we will come back better next time” said Cameron Bolin in Rick Hendricks City Chevrolet Victory Lane.

Hunter Morgan Captures Win With Last Lap Pass at Kingsport
May 14, 2022
Press Release By: Gerald E Harris
Photos By: Keith Anderson
The young and rising stars of the Southeast Tour (Southeast Super Truck Series Support Division) powered up through the beautiful mountains in Tennessee. The second stop of the 2022 season was at Kingsport Speedway, other wise known as the “Concrete Jungle”. The first practice round it was Hunter Morgan who topped the speed charts, with his time of 19.322, Hunter Jordan and Laquan McCoy rounded out the top three. The second and final practice round was the drivers Qualifying round, and it was Hunter Jordan who captured the Pole Award for the Bandolero’s.
This class does not have a invert for the race, so Jordan kept the front row starting position, with Hunter Morgan starting on his outside. The driver’s paced the field behind the Rick Hendricks City Chevrolet Pace Truck, ready to kick the night of racing off. Hunter Jordan quickly took off into turn one when the green flag waved over the field, Jacob Maxwell went to work as he dove to the inside of the #5 of Hunter Morgan. The battle for second opened up to a four way battle as the #26 of Laquan McCoy and the #6 of Bobby Mares made it four-wide down the back stretch below Morgan (#5) and Maxwell (#3). McCoy and Maxwell backed off as they went into turn three, Mares now had the advantage as he took over second, however a little bobble reopened the door for Morgan as he took a look to the inside coming out turn four.
The battle for second went back and forth for several laps before they began to settle down. The first caution flew on lap five as the #3 of Maxwell spun around coming on to the front stretch. Hunter Jordan led the field back to the KRC Power Steering Restart Zone, ready to get the last 15 laps of the race over. This time Morgan stuck right to the rear bumper of Jordans #81, and they pulled away from the rest of the field. The white flag waved over Jordan and Morgan, as they went into turn one, they had to navigate passed a slower car. This opened the door for Morgan, as Jordan bobbled a tad bit riding right up against the inside wall, Morgan shot to the inside. They drag raced down the back straight away, neck and neck, Morgan stuck it as low as he could as they went into three and four, Hunter Morgan crossed the finish line first, and only led one lap, the final one.
This also happened to be Hunter Morgan’s Birthday, so what a better way than to celebrate in Rick Hendricks City Chevrolet Victory Lane. “This feels amazing today to win at my home track, and for me to win on my birthday. Its just a fun track, and I hope to come back later this year and win again. I was just waiting for Hunter Jordan to make a mistake, and I was just sitting, and waiting. I’d Like to thank my parents, Kris and Tiffany with Redhead Racing, Red Rock Secured, WJ Motorcycles, Hook and Ladder Distillery, Universal Machining and Tooling, and all of the other ones”, Stated Hunter Morgan.
