7/20: KINGSPORT, T.N. - With all the rain outs the last few months, the Southeast Super Truck Series has gotten off to a slow start. The SEST Limited Late Models have been itching to get their race in. They all headed up the
mountains into the Tri-Cities of Tennessee at Kingsport Speedway. Current points leader Tanner
Brookshire was more than ready to keep his momentum going. The teams all unloaded at the "Concrete
Jungle" and took to the track for their practice. The first practice round local favorite Trey Lane found
himself on top of the charts. Followed by Kaleb Pressley, Alex Miller, Chase Dixon, and Ralph Carnes
rounded out the top five.
The final practice round another local Alex Miller climbed to the top. He was followed by Trey Lane,
Chase Dixon, Kaleb Pressley, and Lee Tissot. They all went back into the pit areas and prepared for tech
and qualifying. Trey went on to capture the Renegade Race Fuels Pole Award for the nights 75 lap
feature. Trey rolled a five on the invert dice and now set veteran short track driver starting on the top spot
with Chase Dixon on the outside. The field took the green flag and sailed off into turn one, and contact
was made to the rear bumper of the #50 machine driven by T.J. Lollis. Lollis went around and made
contact with the inside turn one wall ending his night prematurely.
The drivers lined back up for a complete do over, Carnes once again on the top spot was waiting for the
flag man to start the race. Dixon was not going to go down with out a fight, he stayed on the outside of
Carnes for several laps, the pair racing side by side. Tissot set his sights on the top two drivers and
turned it into a three way battle for the lead. The second caution flew as Alex Miller spun around coming
out of turn four. Carnes paced the field back around to the green flag. As they came back around to
complete a lap, the #03 Camaro driven by Alan Rich made hard contact with the outside wall on the front
stretch.
After a lengthy red flag, Carnes once again led the field back to the green with Tissot restarting on the
outside. Tissot took advantage of the restart and worked his way passed Carnes. Pressley who watched
everything unfold in front of him, took his Randy Ollis Chevrolet into the second, moving Carnes back to
third. Miller who was working his way back through the field caught the #65 BlackBear Transmission
Chevrolet driven by Josh Goble. Goble was battling side by side with John Gallman, which now allowed
Tanner Brookshire to catch back up to Miller. Brookshire ducked to the inside of the #37M Miller machine
and they raced side by side down the front straight away.
As the pair went into turn one, they made contact resulting in both hitting the inside turn one wall, as
Miller bounced off the wall and back up the track, #48 Chris Smith had no where to go and collided with
Miller. Kristen Wallace managed to dodge all the carnage as she weaved though all the cars on the
track. Another lengthy red flag to clean up the carnage and fix the wall in turn one, the drivers were ready
to get back under way. Tissot chose to restart on the outside, Dixon started on the bottom but was too
eager. He jumped the start and was warned, they lined back up for another restart.
Tissot waited until he got back in the restart box, and hit his marks. Carnes capitalized on this restart as
he made his way passed Dixon and took over the second position. Carnes now set his sights on the
veteran driver and leader Tissot. The duo raced their hearts out for the remaining laps leaving all the
fans on the edge of their seats. Tissot went on to capture the win at his hometrack. Followed by Ralph
Carnes, Chase Dixon, Trey Lane, Kaleb Pressley rounding out the top five.
The series will roar back to life at Tri-County Motor Speedway on July 27th for another round. For more
