By Gerald Harris,
The battle from fourth on back to ninth is seperated by only three points. Jamie Barbrey is atop that battle in fourth, followed by Greg Nix in fifth, Jimmy Roberts in sixth, Ashton Higgins in seventh, Sawyer Frady in eighth, Bennie Davis in ninth. In the Gripp Energy Limited Late Models, Dillon Houser's winning streak was snapped finally by Greenville, SC's own Mitchell Mote. Howevery Houser still sits on top of the points lead with a ten point advantage over John Gallman. John has shown he will not back down from the battle nor give up, as the points show. Sitting in third is Rookie Of The Year points leader Jesse Clark. Clark has a lot of success at the high banked bull ring of Newport Speedway. Tanner Brookshire who sits fourth in points, has improved a lot this season compared to the few races he debuted last year. On a side note, Brookshire and family purchased
Short Track Veteran and Icon Jack Ingrams car and has made one Late Model race at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Davey Smart is tied with Brookshire in points, however he sits fifth. Smart has had several instances on the track but rebounded from them and finished inside the top five at the end of the night. In the sixth position is Chris Phipps, another driver out of the DHR (Dwight Huffman Racing) Stables has been a fierce competitor this season, had a couple of bad nights but has set his mark with a Pole Award. Randy Ollis sits in seventh, just two points over James Dolan. John Mamph who has made a lot of gains since the beginning of last year, although he seems to have a gremlin on his back lately. Mamph is ready to shake that off and start collecting wins. Rounding out the top ten in points is TJ Williams.
