The Southeast Legends & Bandolero Tour traveled East to Wake County Speedway for the first time ever in the series history. The first afternoon practice it was Raleigh, North Carolina’s Phoenyx Kimball who topped the speed charts, she was followed by Jacob Bradley, Kaleb Bradley, Brody Marinko, and Hunter Morgan. The second and final practice round it was once again Phoenyx who was on top of the board, this time Kaleb, Olivia Murray, Brody Marinko, and Neal Dulin rounded out the top five.
Phoenyx would go on and capture the Southeast Bandolero Tour Pole Award, as the field lined up on the track to kick everything off for the Southeast Super Truck Series debut night at the quarter-mile bullring. Phoenyx and Jacob Bradley on the front row. Phoenyx took off once the green flag flew over the field, and never looked back. The young driver would go on to capture her first victory in her debut with the series. Jacob Bradley, Kaleb Bradley, Hunter Morgan, and Brody Marinko would round out the top five.
In the Southeast Legends Tour, it was Alex McCollum who topped the first practice round speed charts in his Kyle Beattie Racing #51. Josh Speas, Landon Lewis, Jadyn Daniels and Parker Eatmon rounded out the top five. Once again history repeated itself, as Alex McCollum topped the charts again in the final practice, he was followed by Austin Thompson, Parker Eatmon, Landon Lewis, and Carson Haislip. Alex went on to capture the Southeast Legends Tour Pole Award with a lap time of 14.108. Alex rolled a four on the invert dice, which now set Josh Speas starting on the top spot.
As the field came out of the fourth turn, flagman Timmy Hutson waved the green flag. Speas took off, while the battle began to heat up behind him. The first caution flew on lap five as Brody Gunter spun in turn one. Josh once again hit his marks and led the field back to the green flag, however the caution flew again, as three cars of Brody Gunter, Trevor Thacker, and Dominic Chisholm all spun in turn three. Speas led the field back to the green flag, however this time he had his hands full of Alex McCollum. The caution flew again, as Landon Rapp made hard contact with the outside wall coming out of turn two.
Speas took off when the green flag flew again, this time Alex had other plans as he drove past the #22 and took over the lead. Alex would go on to take the victory over Speas in a wild and exciting race. The series will head back to Anderson Motor Speedway on September 28th.
