The SEST Limited Late Models headed up to the Tri-Cities of Tennessee to Kingsport Speedway. This division has always put on a show for the fans. The teams were anxious to unload and race after a month off. The first afternoon practice it was reigning champion DJ Canipe that topped the charts, followed by John Gallman, Taylor Nesbitt, and Chris Phipps. The final practice it was Candler, North Carolina’s Chris Smith who set the fast time. Qualifying was up next, and it was Ashton Higgins who claimed the Renegade Race Fuels Pole Award.
Higgins rolled a four on the invert dice for the feature, which would now put TJ Lollis starting on the top spot. Lollis jumped out front of Phipps going into turn one, immediately Canipe took a look under his teammate of Phipps. Gallman and Higgins made slight contact coming out of turn four, resulting in the #81 spinning around and Higgins making slight contact with the outside wall. This brought out the first caution of the night on lap number one. Once again on the restart, Lollis took off like a rocket. The battle for second was where the action was, as Phipps had his hands full with Canipe and Higgins.
After several laps of the three-way battle, Higgins was able to pull out in front of Phipps taking over second. It was just a matter of time before Lollis had to fight off Higgins for the lead, and that was just fifteen laps in. It was an intense twelve or so laps of battling before Higgins finally pulled out to the lead. Second through fourth were nose to tail, Lollis, Canipe, and Smith. Higgins went on to capture the victory in dominant fashion.
The series will head back to Tri-County Speedway on July 10th, making it the second stop there this season. For more information, news, and announcements keep up with us on our Social Media outlets as well as our website www.southeastsupertrucks.com .
