The Southeast Super Trucks SEST Limited Late Models Series has had a up and down season. There was only a couple drivers who competed at every race this season and that being Josh Goble, and John Gallman. Short track veteran Lee Tissot made his return to the series after a lapse and found himself in the #27 Jeffs Auto Sales Chevrolet Limited Late Model. He had some bad luck the first few races of the year and went onto capture five wins in a row. This allowed Tissot to work his way rapidly through the points standings. With a few races remaining in the season he found his way on top of the points battle over Josh Goble.
The teams made their way to final stop of the season at the famed Hickory Motor Speedway, otherwise known as the Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars. Newcomer to the series, but hometown local favorite Charlie Watson topped the first practice round with a time 15.636. They had one final attempt to dial in their cars before qualifying and the main event. It was a surprise as long time supporter of the Southeast Super Truck Series, Jeff Caldwell who came out of retirement for the final race of the year, found himself on top of the charts.
Qualifying was now up next for the drivers. Josh Goble claimed the Renegade Race Fuels Pole Award. Mark Goin would inherit the top starting position after the invert. Goin had to quickly go into defense mode on the start as Tissot wanted to take over the top spot and carry on his winning sprees. Tissot worked his way past Goin, and took over the lead bringing Goble with him. Charlie Watson seen the open window and stuck his nose under the #77 TryboDyne Chevrolet taking over the third place. The first caution flew as Kristen Wallace received a tap sending her in a spin cycle coming off turn four. Tissot paced the field back to the green flag, with Goble on his outside.
Watson went to work on the #65 Blackbear Transmission Chevrolet of Goble and took over the second place. Watson only had one more driver that he had to set his sights on and that was Tissot. Watson did not waste any time as he found the #27 Jeffs Auto Sales Chevrolet right in front of him. He worked his way to the rear bumper of Tissot, he made slight contact on the #27 sending him up the track a tad bit and took over the lead. The second caution flew as the #1 of Chris Whitfield who was making his second start with the series spun around coming out of turn two. Watson led the field back to the green flag pulling away from Tissot.
On the restart, the mid pack was bunched up nose to tail. The #81 JWI Heating and Cooling machine driven by John Gallman made slight contact with Goble, resulting in Goble spinning around in turn two. Watson once again paced the field back to the green flag to get their race back under way. With 45 laps left, again the field was bunched up tight. Chris Smith driver of the #48 Alpha Electric Services Chevrolet was loose coming out of turn four and looped it around. As the field was coming back to complete a lap on the restart, the #81 of Gallman made contact to the rear quarter panel of Eric Green's #95 SRI Performance Chevrolet. Green went around on the front straight away. The caution flew again before the drivers could complete a lap, as Ronnie Buckner driver of the #9 Kenny Campbell Motorsports Chevrolet made contact on the rear of Gallman. This time sending Gallman spinning around.
Watson went on to capture his first victory with the series at the famed speedway. Lee Tissot would claim the 2019 SEST Limited Late Model Championship and Eric Green claimed the 2019 Rookie of the Year
Championship.
